FRESH ATTACK IN BENUE, FOUR KILLED, ONE ABDUCTED

Four people are said to have been killed in new attacks by alleged armed herders on communities in Benue’s Gwer West Local Government Area, LGA.

Several people were injured in the attacks on Tse Shishim, Tse Iber, and Mbaatan villages, according to Vanguard, and a middle-aged man was kidnapped and taken to an unknown location by the attackers.

The attacks were reported in a security report signed by the Local Government’s security officer, Mr. Fred Awarga, and published Monday in Makurdi by the LGA’s Chairman, Mrs. Grace Igbabon. The attacks occurred on Saturday and Sunday, according to the report.

Part of the security report read “On Saturday, May 15, 2021, at about 5 pm armed Fulani militia attacked Tse Shishim village around Ahume settlement in Saghev/Ukusu council ward. “According to two survivors of the attack, three of them went to their village to take some food for their families who are taking refuge at Naka. The armed Fulanis on sighting them started pursuing them with AK-47 guns and cutlasses. “Two of them ran and escaped narrowly while 35-year-old Terhemba Shishim was killed by the attackers. Security agencies on receiving the reports combed the village the following morning but the body of the deceased could not be found, except his footwears and other belongings which were found in a nearby bush in the village.

“However, his mutilated and decomposed body was found by some youths from the area this (Monday) morning under a bridge in a nearby village. “Similarly, yesterday May 16, 2021, armed Fulani militia again between 2 pm and 7 pm simultaneously launched attacks on Tse Iber village in Jimba settlement area, the attackers killed 28-year-old Teryila Agbe and 40-year Torloko Adamu. “The Fulani militia also in another attack in Mbaatan, Kunav, Sengev council ward killed 30-year-old Mne Iorhemen while his younger brother, Terdoo Iorhemen was kidnapped with his Honda motorcycle and taken away to an unknown destination and his whereabouts is still unknown. Meanwhile, the lifeless body of Mne Iorhemen has been recovered and deposited in a Private Moriarty at Agagbe,” the report read in part. Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent, DSP, Catherine Anene was unsuccessful.

RE: GOVERNOR UMAHI DIRECTS FULL SCALE INVESTIGATION INTO THE ALLEGED ABDUCTION OF BARRISTER AMOS OGBONNAYA – WHAT IS THE TRUE POSITION OF THE EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT?

The People’s Democratic Party welcomes the belated, but conflicting, interest shown by the Ebonyi State government over the abduction of Barr. Amos Ogbonnaya by KNOWN aides of the government.

The call for a full scale investigation came after the State Commissioner for Information attempted to conflate and confuse the issue by saying that Amos was well and even spotted in Enugu. How can one government issue conflicting positions on one incident, if they are not covering upbsomething? Uchenna Orji had rushed to adopt a spineless post made by one of their urchins wherein they exposed themselves by attempting to throw mods around instead of behaving like a government and show concern for someone they abducted, atleast.

So, now that the Governor has openly acknowledged the abduction, which he amusingly referred to as alleged, what has his Commissioner for Information got to say about his misguided panicky press statement?

Amos Ogbonnaya has identified those who were directly involved in his abduction when he addressed national media. Some of them are: 1. Chinonso Obasi (aka Consider), 2. Damian Okafor, 3. Peter Akpa and one other. However, lets not loose sight of the fact that the duo of Damian Okafor, Peter Akpa and one other had issued a public threat to anyone who “insult” the Governor from Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo LGAs. Their threat was clear and direct, having been incited by the Governor himself in a meeting they dubbed “OHANIVO Stakeholders meeting”.

It is pertinent to state unequivocally that the Governor has no right to be involved in this investigation as he is the principal suspect. He incited the attack on Amos and those who carried out the criminal act are in his employ. Amos Ogbonnaya also relayed how Mr. Roy Umahi sent him a threat SMS that he is doomed for filing a complaint against the Governor at EFCC (the message is still there).

Suffice it to say that the private messages sent to some members of the G64 by Governor Umahi and his current redirection do not align. After feigning ignorance of the crime and threatening to arrest the person who urged him to ensure Amos was not harmed, he is now openly acknowledging the crime.

Well, the investigation will not be complete without the combination of Austin Umahi, Ogbuefi Enekwachi, Samuel Okoronkwo, Nkechiyere Iyioku, Pump Action, Panchris Eze (aka Power), Mark Onu (aka Chopper) and the executors of this dastardly act, listed above, being arrested and interrogated to ascertain the level of their involvement in this crime.

Also, the Commissioner for Information, Uchenna Orji, will be a useful suspect as an accessory after the fact, for attempting to convolute facts and confuse the issues on ground, deliberately. As a State Commissioner, his duty is for all Ebonyians, not against Ebonyians. The irresponsible statements issued by him calls for deeper reflection and a thorough investigation to ascertain what he really knows and why he was working hard to hide or deny obvious facts.

The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State has also demonstrated an attitude that does not allow any right thinking person to trust in his capacity to conduct a genuine investigation into this crime. We are calling on the IGP, even as our leaders take necessary steps in that direction, to personally open an investigation into this high crime – Immunity does not last forever.

We thank God for the life of Amos Ogbonnaya and pray that he makes a full recovery in good time. We implore all our supporters and Ebonyians to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding as all lawful steps are being taken to ensure justice for Barr. Amos Ogbonnaya.

Being in opposition is not a crime and we will not relent in playing our Democratic role as opposition party in Ebonyi State.

Olushola Olufolabi, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and staunch supporter of Atiku Abubakar has made a comment on the age of the All Progressive Congress (APC) National leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Olushola said if Tinubu is truly 69years old then himself is 24, he made the comment via his Twitter page seeing series of recent picture of the APC National leader on the internet.

There’s been controversies concerning the true age of Tinubu, some believes he was born in 1942 rather than 1952 which he claimed. In addition, the recent pictures of Tinubu as seen on social media contradicts his claim. Jagaban really looks like someone already in their 80s.

Biafra: You’re close to your graves – BNL threatens attacks, warns Buhari, Paul Biya

Biafra Nations League, BNL, has described President Muhammadu Buhari and his Cameroonian counterpart, Paul Biya, as men who are close to their graves.

The group warned them against the use of military forces to clamp down on their members.

The group gave the warning while directing its members and supporters in the Gulf of Guinea to defend themselves if attacked by forces from Cameroon or Nigeria.

In a statement jointly signed by its National Leader of BNL, Princewill Chimezie Richard, Deputy National Leader, Ebuta Akor Takon, the Chief of General Staff, Linus Essien and Chief Head of Operations, Henry Edet, BNL said their activities especially in Bakassi Peninsula will be tough compared to what is happening in South South and South Eastern towns.

BNL further described Buhari and Biya as “half-dead old men who believes in the use of military might to clamp down on peaceful movement despite being close to their graves.”

The secessionist group warned Cameroon to stay clear of their activities and cease from attacking their members “or the militia loyalists of BNL will invade Douala should BIR attack its members again.”

The group said they had placed ban on all foreign vessel from entering Nigeria, including Cameroon from May 30
